Does a RunTru heat pump need a “backup” heater?
Most RunTru heat pumps can handle typical cold. In very cold climates (or sudden temperature drops), you may need some auxiliary heating. That’s why we offer electrical heating kits included in our heat pump package.
How cold can it get before a RunTru heat pump stops heating?
RunTru heat pumps can handle heating efficiently till 20-20°F. You may notice an efficiency drop below that. However, the secondary heating kits can back you up even then.
What is the difference between SEER2 and HSPF2?
Both of these metrics measure your HVAC’s efficiency. SEER2 is the cooling efficiency used for AC and heat pumps. HSPF2 is the heating efficiency specifically for heat pumps.
Is a RunTru heat pump louder than a Trane?
RunTru may be a bit louder, depending on how quiet your environment is. Trane has more sound-dampening components for quieter operation. The noise difference is still due to the cabinet insulation (which is minimal with everyday surrounding noise).
